BEING ROMEO JULIET is a performative interpretation of Shakespeare’s story by three performers, inviting the audience into the experiential space of an intense story of love and suffering. In this way, the audience indirectly becomes participants, witnesses who, together with the moving bodies in the space, allow the story of Romeo and Juliet to become reality in the here and now. There is only Romeo and Juliet. And death it keeps returning over and over.

What do you want from love, and how much of it have you already experienced?

Through being personally touched by this and other questions, a performance with an immersive character emerged, in which the ensemble explores states of being and seeks to act within the “truthful moment” (after Jerzy Grotowski). Through elements of improvisation, the experience of what it feels like to BE Romeo and/or Juliet is recreated anew in every moment and made available to the audience.
